Abstract: The present study investigates the length-weight relationships (LWRs) and condition factor (Kn) of two native freshwater fish species, P. amphibius and L. dussumieri, collected from the Pamba River, Kerala, India, during August-October 2025. Both species exhibited significant LWRs (r² > 0.90). The Fulton condition factor (K) values were 1.89 for P. amphibius and 2.02 for L. dussumieri, while the respective exponent b values were 3.01 and 2.98, indicating an isometric growth pattern in both species. This suggests that the prevailing habitat conditions are favorable for the health and wellbeing of these fishes. The findings of this study provide essential baseline data for the conservation and management of these indigenous fish species in the Pamba River. Moreover, the results will contribute to ongoing efforts to evaluate the current status of fish populations and support future ecological research aimed at sustaining and protecting this ecosystem.
