Assessing the growth trajectory of Assam’s fishery sector: A statistical approach

Author(s): Deba Kr Baruah

Abstract: This study assesses the growth trajectory of Assam's fisheries sector from 2010-11 to 2022-23 using a statistical approach. The analysis, based on data from government sources, reveals significant expansions in water area, hatcheries, and fish production. Despite some anomalies and fluctuations, trends indicate positive growth, particularly in fish production and seed availability. The application of linear growth models, interpolation methods, and least squares regression highlights an overall upward trajectory in fisheries resources. The findings underscore the sector's development potential and emphasize the need for continuous data accuracy and strategic management to sustain growth and address challenges.
