Abstract: The present investigate was aimed to study 23 morphometric and 10 meristic features of four different fish species (Labeo rohita, Catla catla, Tilapia, Silver carp) collected from Kanke Dam, Ranchi, Jharkhand. Data were represented as mean ± S.D. The morphometric characters were correlated with total length using regression equation. The regression coefficient was highest in the case of pelvic fin length (b = 1.4) and lowest in caudal fin length (b = 0.05) for Labeo rohita. It was highest in fork length (b = 9) and lowest in pelvic fin length (b = 1) for Tilapia. In Catla catla, it was maximum in standard length (b = 22.05) and minimum in caudal peduncle length (b = -2.873). In Silver Carp, it was maximum in caudal peduncle length (b = 1.333) and minimum in fork length (b = -4). The study provided baseline data on structural diversity and ecological adaptations, which can aid in fisheries management, conservation and monitoring.
