Abstract: The present study on fish biodiversity, diversity indices and density composition of Tuyungbi River (Chindwin Basin) at Kasom Khullen, Kamjong district, Manipur, India was carried out monthly-wise during December 2022 to November 2023. An overall 69 fish, comprising 46 genera, 16 families and 8 orders were observed. Cyprinidae were the most varied group of fish, accounting for 50.7%, Sisoridae followed with 11.6%, while Nemacheilidae with 7.2%. The Shannon-Weiner index (H) and the Simpson’s diversity index (D) were observed to have maximum values during the pre-monsoon season (April) at site S-II (3.987 and 0.983) respectively. The Evenness indices varied during Monsoon season (July and August) from S-I (1.069), S-III (1.070) and determined maximum for site S-II (1.077). Margalef and Brillouin indices was calculated maximum during pre-monsoon season (April) at Site S-II (8.885 and 3.587 respectively). Key stressors impacting fish biodiversity were identified and discussed.
