Abstract: The present study investigated the effects of fermented rice bran and mustard oil cake on the development and production of tilapia (
Oreochromis niloticus). A cohort of 675 juvenile Tilapia was allocated into three treatments (cages), each with three replicates. These juveniles were fed with a control diet NFD (T
1), fermented diet 50% FD (T
2), and 100% FD (T
3) at the rate of 4% body weight for 12 weeks. The study results revealed that significantly (
p<0.05) higher weight gain and SGR were recorded in T
3 (66.61±5.08g) and (1.36±0.54) fed a diet containing 100% fermented mustard oil cake and rice bran, while T
1 had the lower value of (55.02±4.04g) and (1.21±0.27). The best FCR was obtained in T
3 (2.15±0.02), while the worst FCR was in T
1 (2.36±0.03). The total production (kg/cage/cycle) of tilapia was higher in T
3 (6.89±1.8) and lower in T
1 (5.45±1.2). Significantly higher (
p<0.05) cost-benefit analysis (CBR) was found in T
3 (0.47±0.2) and lower was found in T
1 (0.39±0.1). In summary, up to 100% fermented mustard oil cake and rice bran can be used in the tilapia diet to improve growth performances without adverse effects on feed utilization and thus reduce feed cost.
