Abstract: The present work was designed to determine toxicity on carp
Cirrhinus mrigala exposed to Deltamethrin and the effect of carbohydrate metabolism changes observed during both lethal and sub-lethal concentration. Acute toxicity LC
50 of Deltamethrin detected 8 µl/l and 1/10
th, i.e. 0.8 µl/l of the acute toxicity selected as sub-lethal for sub-acute test concentration. The current experiment to study the impact of Deltamethrin on certain aspects of carbohydrate metabolism were studied and estimated the levels of activities of glycogen phosphorylase, glucose-6-phosphatase, LDH and SDH in the fish organs like gills, liver and kidney of the
Cirrhinus mrigala.
Exposures of the lethal and sub-lethal concentrations of Deltamethrin taken at different exposure periods were considered. The main effects were studied during experimental tenures and the results were obtained in the present study which indicates clearly that the carbohydrate metabolism is disturbed when the fish,
Cirrhinus mrigala is exposed to Deltamethrin. The results were seen to be valuable tool that should be incorporated to a battery of biomarkers.
