Abstract: Effect of sex and sizes on the nutrients composition of the fish samples was analyzed following the procedure of (AOAC 1998). ANOVA and T-test was used to analyzed the differences. Male fish has higher per cent of crude protein than female fish (59.46± 0.39 and 70.37±0.40) from cultured and wild environment respectively. The lipid content of Female fish is significantly higher (p>0.05) than male (6.94±0.29 and 5.42±0.08) in cultured source. Increase in size of the fish sample, decrease the amount of lipid in cultured environment (8.03±0.24, 5.33±0.06 and 6.69±0.13) respectively. Crude protein content shows no significant differences across the sizes in the wild (
p<0.05). The considerable high level of crude protein and lipid content observed from wild is an indication that fish is a good source of high quality protein and lipid content.
