Abstract: The present study was aimed to establish the information on reproductive biology of the flathead mullet in the coastal waters near Krishna estuarine region based on biological sampling between September, 2005 and August, 2006. The following aspects of reproductive biology namely maturation, ova-diameter studies, gonado-somatic index, spawning season and fecundity of
Mugil cephalus were presented and significant observations were recognized. This study has contributed to the updating of reproductive parameters of
M. cephalus. This will strengthen the basis of biological knowledge for the management of the species.
