Preliminary investigation on the occurrence of some estuarine ichthyofauna around Mein Ma Hla Island, Bogale Township, Pyapon district, Ayeyawady Region, Myanmar

Abstract: Surveys on occurrence of some estuarine ichthyofauna around Mein Ma Hla Island, Bogale Township, Pya-pon District in Ayeyawady Region were carried out during March 2018 to May 2019. Totally 74 fish species of 60 genera under 43 families, belonging to 11 orders; Carcharhiniformes, Myliobatiformes, Torpediniformes, Anguilliformes, Clupeiformes, Anabatiformes, Cichlifromes, Cypriniformes, Perciformes, Pleuronectiformes and Tetraodontiformes, were systematically identified according to their external morphological characteristics except the family Scianidae which were needed to identify based on their swim bladder characters. during the study period. In comparison the occurrence of the number of fish species in monsoon seasons to environmental parameters (Rainfall (mm) and Temperature (°F), around Mein Ma Hla Island, there were discovered 69 - 73 species in every single months of monsoon season at the temperature 80.6 °F – 82.4 °F and rainfall 63.9 mm – 167.13 mm, 35 – 50 species in individual months of pre monsoon at the temperature 64.2 °F – 94.8 °F and rainfall 0 mm – 59.66 mm and 48 – 32 species in each months of post monsoon at the temperature 82.4 °F – 84.2 °F and rainfall 29.9 mm – 234 mm.
